Virtually nothing, they were printed in their thousands - it's the small print runs you are after.

Probably not much.
The reason the original philosophers stone first run was worth so much is explained in the below article.
For some reason the first run was only 500 books and some 400 books went to libraries leaving only 100 for sale and thus making them rare. Subsequent popularity then rapidly increases the value. After the popularity of book one all subsequent print runs would have been considerably larger with the Half blood prince probably having one of the largest print runs ever for a first edition.

Not a lot. Even if they are true 1st/1st, by this I mean first impression of first edition. their are over 30 impressions of the first edition of both these titles, and you can work out which impression yours is from the numberline printed on the publishers page.
a true first will look like this
1 3 5 7 9 10 8 6 4 2
the 23rd impression for example will look like this
23 25 27 29 30 28 26 24
if it was a true first, you'd be lucky to get more than a tenner. if not a couple of quid would be good.

Not much I'm afraid.
There will be THOUSANDS AND THOSANDS printed in the 'first edition' run of both of these books.
The first book there were only about 20,000 so they are really rare, but now, with the popularity the runs have been increased greatly.
I you want to make an investment get hold of a 1st edition HB of Temeraire by Naomi Novik. The film has been linked to Peter Jackson.

i could say sure. First, any set of books that has that plenty consequence on subculture and society should be examined, by way of fact if the books had no creative advantage they simply does not be so standard. notwithstanding, i've got self assurance the books value severe advantage by way of fact Rowlings did an dazzling job of plotting a techniques in strengthen, understanding which techniques and strategies to plant early that later had severe relevance. yet this is only the top of the iceberg. Harry Potter and the Philospher's Stone is a incredibly easy tale (nevertheless techniques are presented that have super which means later), yet as Harry grows, each thing gets greater complicated. Rowlings reflects accurately each thing from lack of self assurance to concern of rejection to creating the final selection (even regardless of if it rather is not consumer-friendly) to the discomfort of dropping kin. Harry's journey isn't an consumer-friendly one, yet he's an quite desperate and extremely ingenious individual. He will additionally become widespread and respected, not by way of reality he lived, yet by way of fact of what he grew to grow to be. subject concerns comprise unwavering loyalty to ones acquaintances, have confidence in mentors, a willingness to do what's right extremely of what's straightforward, criminal, or self-serving, ingenious suggestions to impossible circumstances, the triumph of good over evil, the not consumer-friendly instructions of transforming into up, and rejection of race or classification difference.

I think it would only be the first edition of The Philosophers Stone that has any value. See how much they are going for on EBay.

Probably only retail value at this time, unless you find a die-hard Harry fan who just has to have them.
