it said that us trying to imagine it is like a persons from a flat world coming to this world.. we cant grasp it fully..

That's only true in an closed universe, ours is not. Present data indicates that our universe has a flat topology and is accelerating in it's expansion. Thus you would never reach any edge as space itself would be accelerating away from you (faster than light expansion).

Perhaps

However like all these theories you forget the 4th dimension TIME. Given you could embrace immortality by the time you have gone the full cycle the universe would A) Have moved position B) Evolved (our sun is going toward red giant which in time will consume its closest planets) c) All life would have changed due to the changing climates (There is record of animals from Ancient Egypt that are now extinct and consider tigers etc... are going that way.)

So as such even you came back and the earth was here it would be sooo different. However considering time like all dimensions is relative and as soon as you break from all gravities (time is calculated by our cycles of our sun so dependent on its gravitational pull) then perhaps by avoiding all gravity the concept of eternity can be realised. I.e. timeless etc... Where the true nature of relativity exists

Well, technically you cannot travel to the end of the universe. The universe is not only infinite but at the same time it is growing. The question is, where is it growing. Some astronomers, also think that it might be round or better yet spherical, which would make it seem infinite. But I doubt thqat you would still end up in the same place since it is growing. Traveling to the end of the universe might be like plotting it's limit. I hope that helps.

Time and Space are curved not flat so eventually if you could travel across the universe you would end up back where you started from. A bit like flying around the world, it feels like you are flying in a straight line but you are in reality flying on a curved course.

That statement is true if you are ONLY considering the topology of the universe. It is largely believed that our universe is closed so you would return to where you started.

But like others have mentioned the Universe is expanding faster than the speed of light so you could never return to where you started... Despite how fast you traveled back towards your starting location it would become farther and father away due to the stretching of space. It would be a bit like chasing the horizon.

Because of this, the universe is sad to have a finite size but is infinite in spatial extent. You could never circumnavigate it with out exceeding the speed of light.

Althought it does'nt violate the laws of phyics inpractice the answer is no. think of the cosmos as a balloon, as you blow it up all parts move away from each other. the universe is doing the same thing as it expands. if you were inside the balloon (say in the center) and traveled toward a side your distance from the far side would increase. Now if you could harness the power of 4-6 stars like ours (average) and could create a stable wormhole it theoretically is possible to bypass normal spacetime and travel thousands of light years essentially instantly. hope this helps.... a good question...............Jim Franck

Well in a way that is where we are headed . Think of the earth as a space craft traveling through space on a very long journey. Possible a million generations and we still will not be there.

there's no end to our universe....to understand everyting try to find a definition fot time, and then find its effects on the space... you'll find out the universe has no limits...Bye(ciao)

PS: by the way...the "Present Time" doesn't exist couse the light has a speed. That makes everything you see part of the "Past Time". So we all live in the "past time". Using a word you can call everything you see "movie" of the real life.
