bigger

Well it depends on how much bigger/smaller, but bigger would generally be the best. Feet swell so you are going to be in a lot of hurt with shoes already too small.

If they are high heels, no matter how bad you want them, just dont. Too big and you can come out or trip and break your ankle. Too small and your feet wont be placed right in the shoe causing bone and joint problems and because your weight isn't properly balanced you can fall and break your ankle.

There are tons of online shoe stores. If the store you want it at doesn't have your size either ask them to order them from another store (they should do this free) or go online and search for a pair in you size.

Obviously you are going to have to make a slight judgment call but here are a couple of things.

You can always add another insole depending on the type of shoes to make it a 1/2 size smaller.. This will also work the other way around. You can remove the insole and make it 1/2 size larger.

Leather shoes will stretch but the question is if your feet can take it while its stretching.

Here is a good rule of thumb.

If they are athletic shoes I would go smaller if they are dress shoes i would go bigger.

Good Luck

I think it depends a lot on the shoe. I bought these ballet flats recently. LOVE them. but I couldn't decide what size. too big and my feet kept sliding out, too small and they pinched. In the end, I went with the smaller size and once I broke them in they were fine. If a shoe is really soft, (like slippers, or some flats) then smaller could be better, but if it's something like tennis shoes or hiking boots, bigger is better and just wear thicker socks! I hope this helped.

Small Shoe Size

I would say bigger if your feet are still growing, but smaller shoes are easier to walk in. i personally would wait until they get my size. Smaller shoes can also stretch but big shoes can't shrink. If you are going to be wearing socks/tights then go bigger though.

Depends on the material used. If it seemed as if it could be stretched a bit without ruining the shoe, I'd say go a size smaller. If not, go a size bigger.

(But me? I don't think I'd ever feel so passionate about a pair of shoes that I'd be willing to risk blisters just to own them! )

You may want to try and buy your shoes toward the end of the day. Your feet will expand from being on them all day long, and you may get a more comfortable fit.
Now try them out after this and see if there is a difference.

If you are buying your shoes and they are one size too small, they might be able to stretch them for you. You cannot do this with all types of shoes, usually it's limited to dress shoes.

if they did not have my size, I would have to go a size or half size bigger. A smaller shoe would hurt.

I'd go with bigger, but if you know how to make it bigger than go with smaller. But if you get a smaller size and its too tight you could get ingrown toenails.

I would get bigger. If you get smaller, chances are they may be a little too small and tight and therefore useless and a waste of money. Bigger, they are loose and comfortable, not tight, and you can still use them. Don't get too big though... you may have to stuff them in that case.
