im supposed to be cleaing out my closet today, i have way to many clothes,s ome dont even fit, but i fin it hard to throw things out because they have, iguess a somewhat sentimental value to me. but my parents said the only way i can go shopping is if theres room to put the clothes. any idea how i can get rid of the stuff without second guessing myself or feeling bad. thanks in advance =]

Alright first of all you've got to get rid of all the clothes that don't fit you anymore or don't fit well. I know its hard because they mean something to you but whats the point in having them and taking up space if you cant wear them anymore. Also take clothes that you never wear, even though you always promise yourself that you will wear them eventually. YOu really know that you won't so you can dispose of that also. And lastly dispose of clothes that you bought when they were in a fad style. They are never going to come back in style so why not get the new clothes that are IN STYLE. Good luck! Happy shopping dear,

If there is a military base around close by call the base information office and ask if they have a dependents assistance program where you can donation the clothes too.
This is a crying shame but it is a fact, many of our married service men and women have to live on Food stamps because their pay is so low. And every little bit helps!
Also try to local shelters for abused and battered women! They are always in need of clothing donations, because many of those ladies come there with only the clothes they are wearing. SO THEY ARE ALWAYS IN DESPERATE NEED OF CLOTHES AND SUNDRY ITEMS LIKE SOAP! TOWELS TOOTH PASTE and women's NECESSARIES! Check with the local YWCA about donating because most YWCA's run shelters for battered and bused women.
If not contact your local USO which is a division of the Salvation Army: They accept donations for service men and women for times of emergency:
Next on the list should by your local Salvation Army. They are always in need of clothes.
Then next is your local Goodwill Industries.
Last is your local Red Cross! Although having been in service I don't trust them that much.

Make a 'yes' and a 'no' pile.
No maybe piles!!
Seperate your clothes. Too many of one style? Get rid of a few. Too small, just put it in that no pile! Haven't worn it, you won't miss it - no pile.
Trust me, I have the same problem. My fiancee is currently making me clean out my closet. If helps if you just don't have a 'maybe' pile. Once it is in the no pile, it goes!
Also, you can sell the items on E-bay. Make a little extra cash for yourself. I did that with the designer handbags I no longer carry. =D

well...you can have a clothing trade with your friends..have them bring the clothes they dont want over to and sit down and have a swap party..not only will you get rid of your stuff but also pick up some cute peices from your friends...you can donate them to a womens shelter where women who are abused are sometimes brought with their kids to a shelter with nothing but the clothes they have on..you could sell them at a consigment shop and make some extra cash....

if it doesnt fit throw it away you wont be able to fit in it anyways so why you want it? also think about how much room will be left after you throw close out or donate so that you can get NEW clothes and put it in there. doesnt it make sense?

Just let them go honey!!! I have the same problem and I just didn't look and gave them away. I haven't thought twice about it since!! It actually feels good to let them go. Or get a large rubbermaid bin and store them there until you're ready to let them go. Good luck!
