Sorry, it's just everyone talks about it and I have no idea how they differ. How is it better getting an allowance rather than pocket money!

When my child was young I gave an allowance - a set amount that was to be split between saving, buying gifts and spending on personal wants - this was to teach responsibility and build financial base. As an extra bonus I might give "pocket money" so my kid would not be going somewhere flat broke. Seemed that the parents who gave "pocket money" needed to replenish the pockets regularly and the kid thought of it as a bottomless bag of gold.

pocket money is whatever you have or what ever ur parents give u for like school or going out with friends..while an allowance is a set amount given at a certain time.

allowance is something you earn. pocket money is just extra cash you have on hand to spend on whatever.
