Have her call her OB/GYN. I am 32 weeks, and I was allowed. It is not okay during the first trimester, but naturally, every doctor has a different opinion.
Highlights are safer than a whole head dye job as well, FYI!
And you rock for knowing she's beautiful no matter what!

I am a brunette and when I was pregnant last time I put blonde highlights in my hair. The highlights stayed but I should've never ever done it myself. My whole head was highlighted and I had to wait until I could dye it again. They usually say that dye will wash out if you are pregnant but I don't think that is always true.
The only thing I would worry about is the fumes from the chemicals.

Foiling is the terrific thank you to pass, so no chemical compounds attain the scalp and get absorbed into the bloodstream. There are no longer sure solutions as to the negative aspects by fact it rather is tricky to do a learn like that yet i could stay faraway from it, fairly for the period of the 1st trimester whilst the final advancements are being made.

I got highlights I asked my doctor and he said it was no big deal. though before she does she should ask the salon how strong the bleach is or dye because some salons use hair dye that is really strong. When i got mine done i could never smell the dye or bleach though it all depends on the salon. They say you shouldn't if your in the first trimester though I don't see why it should be a problem. I guess we do it because we want to feel sexier!

Doctors say that as long as it is after the first trimester that it is fine....when she goes to the stylest have her tell them that she is pregnant and they will use a more mild dye, just to be on the safe side. I dyed my hair @ home with my first son when I was about 15 weeks along and he is just fine so it's perfectly ok.

the chemicals used in highlights can make her sick. She may not be able to stand the smell. But I would recommend she consult with her doctor..
Some doctors okay the use of an ammonia-free colorant (Loreal and Clairol make an ammonia-free item). It is important to prevent the color from being absorbed into your scalp. I think foils (used for highlighting) would prevent most of the color from reaching your scalp.

Putting chemicals in your hair wont harm your baby... it doesnt go into the blood stream or anything and the fumes arent going to harm them either..if that were the case then all hair stylist would have to quit there jobs when there pregnant... the reason why people choose not to get these things done is because sometimes when your pregnant depending on the meds or relaxation of your body your hair may not hold the color or perm therfore making it pointless to pay for it.

Yes but have foil highlights done.
And for the chemicals, it's recommended to wear a mask, no matter how silly she'll look.
We don't want breathing in chemicals!!
I'm a hairdresser, have highlights and i'm pregnant ;)

it's okay to get highlights when pregnant. the chemical doesn't touch the scalp so therefore doesn't reach the bloodstream like color does. alot of women color their hair while pregnant. i did with my other 4 but i'm opting for highlights this time.
continue to tell her how beautiful and perfect she is. it'll really help as she gets bigger and feels more unattractive.

As long as she checks with her doctor, i have friends who have gotten their hair dyed or highlighted for special things like weddings and birthdays while being pregnant but they confirmed with their doctor that it would be okay first.
