I am the oldest child married to the baby boy.....and it sucks!
you would think after forty years he would grow up

Are you referring to the theory of alcoholic dysfunctional families? I read about this sometime ago where the first born becomes the caretaker, second born the problem child, third the perfect child and the fourth the clown. The fifth child becomes the caretaker, etc. and so on. I'm the third child married to a fifth child.
