I scrub dishes in sink, with soap, 2-3 times, with a scrubby pad or brush, rinse well, put in the dishwasher.
After the cycle runs the dishes come out, and some of them are still left with residue.

We use top-quality detergent and rinse aid. Why is there residue. I don't get it. Is our dishwasher not rinsing enough?

When another family member does the dishes(which is not very often) she gets them clean with very little effort. But when I do all the above things, they are still dirty. I just don't get it....

ok.. lst off.. it's a DISH- WASHER... y do u wash u'r dishes b/4 puttin them IN the DISH-WASHER? I can never understand that.

Jst as mentioned... it could b the way u'r placing them... the amt in washer.... washer needs cleaned.... or u'r water is hard.

If u need to wash out u'r dishwasher.... ck. to make sure the bttm. of the washer doesn't have anything layin in it like paper etc... Then after u put u'r dishes in... u can use the kool-aid orange method OR... put a cup of bleach on the top rack... run the dishwasher but it can't go thru the drying cycle. Then run a cup of white vinegar completely thru the cycle.

Not only will it clean u'r washer but it will help clean u'r dishes as well.

We have a new dishwasher & even w/ all the liquids to help w/ spots..etc... it doesn't get them clean. We found it was r hard water. So after I run the dishes... i put a cup of white vinegar in & run the RINSE cycle... let dry.. dishes clean.

Also ck. the contraption that u'r OVER FLOW would come out of on top of u'r sink. The guy showed me that there is a piece that pops out on top that acts as a filter that gets built up.

hope that helps

First of all, why are you washing your dishes before you put them in the dishwasher. IF you are going to scrub them first why don't you just rinse them, dry them and put them away instead of wasting an additional 20 gallons of water in the dishwasher. Secondly, does your other family member cook the same too. Are you burning stuff? Is the food you have on the dishes when you eat sticky like rice and the stuff on the dishes when she eats is salad? Did you ask her if she uses the heat dry cycle? It's hard to answer with the limited info.

** I always run the tap in the sink until the water is piping hot before turning on the dishwasher. **

Have you ever measured the hot water temperature to see what it actually is? Detergent and appliance manufacturers recommend between 120°F and 140°F wash water or the detergent may not dissolve properly.

** we do have hard water ... I've scaled back from the Cascade (tried many other brands too) amount recommendations to the tiniest bit of detergent **

. With hard water you're suppose to use *more* detergent not less. It is soft water which doesn't need as much.

**if it refuses time to hire a plumber **

use warm water and limit the amount of dishwashing liquid, just enough to soap up. Then rinse in cool water well, then place in dishwasher.

it could be that your dishwasher is dirty, so use something like clr or a dishwasher cleaner. Also, dont over fill the washer.

Maybe your dishwasher is dirty.. Run and empty cycle on Hot with some powdered drink mix in the soap dispenser.. Sweetened or not it doesn't matter... That will get the gunk buildup out of the the dishwasher.... I do this once a month and I don't have any problems.

I started to hand wash my dishes because the water in this area is so hard that it did not clean my dishes at all. What type of dishwasher do you have sometimes that can be the cause too.

I have always felt that a dishwasher is just that...a washer. They do not scrub your dishes. I scrub mine before placing them in the dishwasher where my main purpose is to sanitize on the extra hot water. Make sure your dishes aren't stacked in such a way that water can not fully hit your dishes too.

Maybe too much soap. Try cutting back. Also you may be over-filling the dishwasher.

Could be a difference in the way the dishes are placed in the racks. It DOES make a difference.
