Well i guess if you are a follower of the idea of reincarnation,and that we come here to learn a lesson.
To have loved and lost is much more of a lesson than not to have loved at all,imagine how many times you would have to return if you hadnt experienced love.

I would believe so. For example, let's say you were born blind. Then one day you could see perfectly for that entire day. However you loose your sight afterwards. It'll hurt, it'll be painful to image what life will be like to not be able to see again. Yet at the time you were happy and fulfilled and it taught you a lot. The same goes for loved lost.
