You can't. To update your ipod, a service must be running, which is not allowed in safe mode (in fact, that is the very thing that makes it safe.) Why do you want to stay in safe mode though?

Hi,
You can't.
Within Safe Mode, only a small number of services are started. This mode is used for troubleshooting purposes and fixing a broken system.
Boot into normal mode after our system is fixed.

Safe mode is actually meant for repairing system errors, hence most drivers are disabled in safe mode- thats the whole idea of having safe mode. So its probably bcoz ur iPod couldnt link to your PC. so its not possible to update ur iPod on safe mode. So its better to switch to normal windows and update ur iPod.

The purpose of safe mode is to disable every non-essential function on the computer in order to troubleshoot it, i.e. find/remove a virus.
Why are you running in safe mode?

You can't, but I have a suggestion. Change your question to "How do i fix my computer so I wouldn't be using it in Safe mode anymore?".
