well if you live in LA you have already lived in Mexico anyways what's the difference.

I wouldn't go Mexico can be dangerous especially in the no resort areas and especially for an American. I agree you have to make sacrifices and compromise but that seems like a really big one. How long have you known him for? How long have you been engaged?

tell him only time you're running to the border is when you go to Taco Bell. :) Just thought I would try to lighten the situation.

Maybe if you did end up going you could get a Real Estate License there, I still would really consider everything friends, family culture changes etc.

Guadalajara is a huge city with many gorgeous neighborhoods. But like any big city, there is poverty and run down neigborhoods as well. There are any retired Americans living there around the lake area who love it.

No doubt this will be a tremendous change for you. For one thing, what will you do there all day?? Can you still pursue your real estate goals there, or is there another job to pursue? Other than just relocating, you need to think about living conditions and career opportunities .

I highly recommend making a trip there with your fiance first to see where you will live.

I think that you should always do what will make you happy in the long run. I too, had to choose between my career in the military and my man. I chose him. Unfortunately, when I came back from Gemany to be with him he had found someone else. It eventually put strain on not only me as a soldier but on my personal life because I now live in a city that I hate being in. Take it from a woman who knows, if you fiance loves you it will be very easy to tell him that Mexico is not what you want.

well first of all I hate to be in your shoes. before I start why and, what are the reasons he wants to move to Mexico?Does he know how you feel? if not you better let him know. love works both ways, what I mean is if he loves you why is he moving you away from your dreams and family! The bottom line is up to you. It a decision that you can only make because it is going to affect the rest of your life. If you love something let it go, and if it comes back it was meant to be but if it doesn't it wasn't meant to be! It's better to have loved and lost then never have loved! I think that you learn from your first love but I don't think you should marry your first love. I married my first love I .I have been married 22 years and I wish that I would have lived live better. I was 16 years when I met her.

This will have to be your personal choice. Guadalajara is great but would not know what to tell you about jobs. I tried to get a job in Mexico before and it is not that simple. You need a work permit. You don't sound ready to move.

Do some research on that city. See if they have FRESH, CLEAN WATER, electricity, the kind of food you'll find in the markets. Look at the job market.

(When I went into Tijuana there was a taco stand on every corner, but I didn't see any stray cats, dogs, or rodents.......)

Just tell him that you do not want to move. Moving out of the country is a huge decision, and needs to be made by both parties, not one. If he isn't willing to take your feelings into consideration, then he isn't worth being with.

Oh Girl. The only reason he wants you there is to have you under his thumb. DONT DO IT!!!!!!!! Keep your freedom and your sanity. Stay where you belong. In America.
