We don't keep people out of here, provided they use the proper legal channels that we have.

If I was an immigrant coming to America, no of course I would just want them to let me in, set me up with free housing, free food, free health care and a years worth of ice cream.

Right now we are in war, so yes, it is a patriotic thing to say, hey - sorry guys, we need to keep ourselves safe right now until we get through this. When we get through it, we will open up again & be even stronger for you to be a part of.

Or, we open the borders up, but anyone wanting to come here has to serve at least 2 years in the military before being granted citizenship. Now there's an idea!

it doesn't work in the end.. didn't work for East/West Germany.. had to be so large it is considered a Wonder of the World to work for even a little while in China.. and in the end building a wall (which is what most people talk about these days when they think of "sealing" the border) won't work here either.. besides.. who do you think the construction companies contracted to build the wall would hire? and heck, I can't keep my pets locked up in a fence without them finding a way over/under / around/through or whatever.. you can't tell me a sentient human being can't figure it out.. waste of money and time.

Its impossible to seal the border unless the American people want to put up guard towers with sharpshooters and the deploying of landmines.

If such things were used, they would be taken down within a few weeks after the American people would be outraged by the images they would see on TV of children getting shot or blown up by landmines.

As a law abiding US citizen, I wouldn't want to break the laws of others countries by migrating there illegally.

If things got tough here and I wanted to move into another country, I would go through the legal process and not the other way around.

If I was an immigrant I would follow the law and procedures to emigrate. Closing the borders wouldn't affect me.

Sealing? No.

Controlling? Yes.

It should make no difference in the analysis. Sealing the border keeps illegal aliens out. Foreigners can still come her legally.

Honestly, I don't think sealing the border would be effective so I don't bother having an opinion on it.

That immigrant could come here legally, you know.
