Absolutely. It shouldn't take a law to make parents take better care of their kids. Second-hand smoke can kill too.

I think that is a good law. I don't normally agree with a lot
that comes out of NY. but someone needs to care about
the health of the children. All states should have laws like
that. I would also like to see laws passed that If you are in
stop and go traffic you can not smoke with your windows
rolled down. I demand my wright to breath without gaging
on some idiots smoke. Hope I didn't come off too strong.
Good question.

I totally disagree with this law. I hav the right to smoke in my own car. And no, I am not a bad mom because I smoke in the car.

Agreed. But not because of the kids but because 90% of the time I'm the one driving behind the idiot smoking in the car ahead of me. And on the freeway in traffic the second hand smoke gets into the cabin of my car even with my windows closed and the vent on the lowest setting. My car is equipped with a cabin air filter too and it still gets inside and I have to breath some idiots second hand smoke.

On top of which stupid idiots who smoke while driving always throw their trash out the window. More than once I've had some idiots cigarette butt get lodge in my cars radiator and I DON'T TAILGATE either.

Make smoking while riding in a car ILLEGAL period in all 50 states!!!

Yes, I agree. If people would like to smoke they shouldn't make others have to breathe their second-hand smoke. Its their choice and not the kid's choice. Its also unhealthy for the kids who are in the car. So I agree.

I neither agree nor disagree. My parents never smoked, but I was constantly in the company of parents who DID smoke whenever I would visit friends as a kid. Second hand smoke never really bothered me. I knew it was bad for me, but I could also respect that this is what these grown-ups wanted to spend their money on. Whatev.

I think it is a good law. It will prevent the kids from having to breathe second hand smoke, and will help the driver stay more focused on the road which again is protecting the children that cannot protect themselves.

I do too.
Smokers will have a fit because it's their right to fill the rest of us with second hand smoke apparently. They'll all say that you shouldn't be eating or talking on the phone while driving and try to pass that law too.

Absolutely! Second hand smoke is so bad for people in general.... who would want to confine their kids in a little box with something so harmful. Good for NY I hope the rest of the US follows suit soon.

Yes as a mother and a smoker I agree with this law. Oh and to clarify for someone that brought up the point about smoking at home, I smoke outside and I think everyone with children shouldn't smoke in their homes either.
