Can I Build A air conditioner out of fridge parts and a fan?

i have a fridge and a fan and i need to make an air conditioner anybody wanna help?

You could buy a small A/C for less than it will probably take you to rig up the guts of the fridge. You will have to remove the condenser coils and mount them so the air blows outside. That will require more tubing, fittings, etc. Plus unless you are a licensed A/C person, it might be hard getting more "freon" to recharge the system. Legally you are supposed to re-claim the existing "freon" not just let it escape into the atmosphere. I agree with the person's comments about run time. You will probably end up burning out the compressor. A small 110vac A/C would not cost you all that much if you shop around.

All things are possible, grasshopper.

Your biggest hurdle will be getting the heat from the condenser outside of the room you are trying to cool. You can build ductwork out of plywood or cardboard to an open window. Pull the fridge away from the wall put it in front of a window, and put a fan behind the fridge to move the heat. Build your ductwork to send the heat outside.

Remove the doors from the fridge. Point the fan into the freezer area and turn the fan on full blast. Adjust the temperature dial in your reefer/freezer/room A/C to the mid-point. Unscrew the light bulb (don't want that heat load).

A refrigerator runs constantly as it is. The more air you can get across the indoor and outdoor coils will help remove the heat from your room.

Be aware that a refrigerator is only designed to remove the heat from a 14 sq ft box, so the smaller your room is, the cooler you can get it. It won't be able to cool off a 1500 sq ft house, but it could cool a 100 sq ft room. It will start to condense the water from the air in the room (mostly from you sweating and breathing), and start to run out the bottom of the fridge. you might need to run a condensate line out the door. Also the ice in the freezer compartment will thaw out; this is a good thing, as it is absorbing the heat in the room. If more ice forms, move your fan closer to the freezer area.

take the coil from inside the freezer compartment of fridge mount it in a box with the fan at on end take the outdoor section in this case the coil on the back of the fridge and set it outside the window with a small fan blowing across it. Yes it can be done in fact most ac mechanices construct small refrigrators out of a woden cabinet in class but the question you have to ask is it worth the 6 hours it will take to build it worth the time is so then you need additional copper to extend the lines a simple box frame to hold indooor coil so air can be blown thru it and the same with the outdoor coil and a touch of refrigerant to compesate for the additional line length. as for temperature control just break your 110v black wire with a line voltage thermostat.

Yeah but the money it will cost to run won't be worth it...

I'm pretty sure you could just mount the part that contains the refrigerant in front of a fan but you might as well just buy a window mounted model. They are more energy efficient. Refrigerators are only meant to run just enough to bring then temperature down and then they shut off. If you made your Frankenstein fridge-fan thing I'm sure it would stay on constantly unless you shut it off but it might not cool your whole house down by then.

you can use the circulator fan out of a freezer. It blows cold air like an air conditioner.

just buy an air conditioner by the time you finish it will not be worth the cost,you will get very little cooling.everyone thats telling you to do it does not have any idea on what they are talking about.

Yes, my fan is on. I have a very big fan and so it tends to blow things off my desk. I have not seen my cat since I turned it on.

We didn't even experiment with this in a/c class in college.Get a window unit.

It will work providing the room is no bigger than a ref. and very well insulated.
