It is a black spider with a series of white dots on its back. It looks like a black widow except, instead of red, it is white. It does not appear to have any hair, so i do not think that it is a jumping spider. I was wondering if anyone had any idea of what kind of spider this could be?

Check on Steatoda borealis or Steatoda grossa. These are often confused with widows, but have a light line around the front of the abdomen, and one or the other of them (can't remember which off-hand) has a line of white dots or dashes running down the midline of the back.

A common jumping spider in the United States, Phidippus
audax, is black with white spots. There are various other
species of Phidippus of various colors, and a few others are
also black and white, but audax is the most often seen.

It is possible that it could be a male or female jumping spider.
I believe the female jumping spiders have trouble growing their hair. Not sure, but one of them does and sometimes the older they get or newer they are depends on the amount of hair.

It is possible that it is a jumping spider. Sometimes they don't have hair and have white spots on their back.

I have no idea, truthfully, what kind of spider that is, but the people at http://www.whatsthatbug.com/ would.

Send them an inquiry and they'll identify it for you quickly.
