Don't put the mosquito repellant on the child, put it on the net.
That way it shouldn't harm the baby, though you should talk to your pediatrician again about what you /can/ use (on the net) rather than what you /can't/.
I do believe that if you use the repellant on the net, anything can be used.
You could also light some mosquito repellant candles.
Good luck!

Apply a little good quality mustard oil on your child's body. Not only does it have antiseptic therapeutic quality but protects from mosquito bites also. Never keep a liquid repellent or any repellent near a child ! It is dangerous even for adults!

Avon makes a bug repellent that is all natural and plant-based that you can use instead of a commercial repellent that contains DEET.

I never had a problem using the actual bug off insect repellant when my son was a baby. Im not sure why you cant use it. They make it unscented.

Skin so Soft, it smells good and works really well. My parents have used it since i was a baby and i now use it with my daughter. It is a little pricey and only some stores carry it, you might have to order it online but it works great.

Spray Eucalyptus on the net. Also, you can rub a dryer sheet on your baby.
