I was in the grocery store yesterday and this kid (about 12) was zooming around on those skate shoes, only semi-under control of herself. As she started careening toward me, I aimed the cart in her direction (just to scare her a little), but stopped just short of hitting her. Is that wrong?

No! I work in a department store and kids zoom around doing that all the time. I ask them to stop, and luckily, they listen. However, it's annoying as all sin! On little girl knocked over a glass-topped display table and the glass shattered into a billion tiny pieces. If only we could have slapped her with a lawsuit.

Kids are stupid, and so are their parents for buying them those shoes. If they're going to use them inside, they're asking for trouble. I almost want to nonchalantly shove a pointy cornered table in their direction when the turn the corner. Good job!

That kid'll learn, we just all have to band together to injure the rolling youth of America.

I don't think so. I was at the grocery store yesterday and three little kids were running up and down the aisles playing and laughing. I was passing another shopper with a cart and one of the little $(*%)# ran right between us. Then in another part of the store I was at the end of the aisle and heard one of them coming up the aisle and I did the same as you but it didn't phase him one bit. The whole time I'm thinking "where the hell are you parents?!" Come on! It's a friggin' grocery store!!! Go play at a park.

a lot of kids have those "skate shoes" they are actually called Heelys and they are not allowed anymore... I think it was kind of wrong to do that but that kid might have learned, but those shoes can seriously hurt you if you fall and still you would get in a lot of trouble from their parents..
i've seen some extremely rude answers on here about kids and not all kids are bratty with Heelys, because i have a little sister that uses those and she doesn't skate in grocery stores. so some people should just lay off...

No, this kid was being a nuisance. The grocery store is for shopping and skating should be left for the sidewalk or a skating rink. You are a customer and there should have been someone from management to tell the kid to leave.

Since she didn't have a car, she could have been a skate bomber whose weapon would have been ineffective unless she was well within the length of a cart from you. You could have narrowly averted being hit with a stink bomb or something! A real near aggravation experience, consider yourself lucky my friend, not everyone gets a second chance. Your quick reflexes and sense of self preservation are to be admired by all, I SALUTE YOU MADAM!!!

No, you exercised your right to protect yourself! You could have gotten hurt if the skater would have hit you. I need to remember that in case a "heely wearing teen" should careen towards me!

i would have done the same thing it would have been hilarious if she ran into your cart. parents need to keep their kids under control in the grocery store the one i work at the parents just let them run around and go as they please.

Probably not a good idea-- unless you were going in that direction yourself. I'd suggest you talk to the store manager.
