My period is very heavy, and i fill a regular pad in less than an hour to an hour. and yesterday and the day before filled a super plus tampon in 50 minutes to an hour. This doesnt seem normal to me. My period has never been heavy like this. my mom said im still regulating. But i dont feel like it is. is this normal?

Did you just start getting your period? If so, it can definitely take a few months or even a year to regulate but usually it's your cycle that needs regulating, not the amount of the flow.

If you're having more than 1 day of heavy flow like this, it's worth a talk with your dr. I usually have 1 very heavy day like this (the 2nd day of my period for me) but the rest of it isn't heavy like that and the entire day isn't usually super heavy. I'll go through a super plus in about an hour or 2 and then maybe 2+ hours for the next and then supers every 3 hours or so for that day.

If you don't feel like it's right and it's just too much blood, def. schedule an appt with your dr. It's probably normal but it'd be best to know for sure. And make sure you're drinking enough water and taking a multivitamin with iron so your iron levels stay nice and high. Good luck and you should be proud that you're in tune with your body enough at such a young age to ask questions like this!

I'm now 37 & my periods have ALWAYS been like that. The first few days or so I HAVE to wear a super plus tampon with a super pad!
Hopefully your mother will be right and don't have to be like this forever.

Your body might still be adjusting tro having a period, so yes, this could be normal. However, if you keep bleeding like this for three periods (i.e. three months) I would consult a dr. You could be at risk for anemia.

when I first started my period I had the same thing happening to me.....you can wear an ultra thin pad as well as a tampon so you won't have any accidents....always is a good brand....good luck....
