If your talking about the stars in the sky. Then maybe it has to do with them probably dying out already. See the thing is that the light from a star takes a long time to get here. So were probably seeing the stars as they were millions of years ago. So it takes a long time for the "up to date" light to come in to contact with us. So you can be looking at the light of a star. but in reality if could have died out years ago.
