I respect them...I have studied their beliefs, somewhat, and while I do not hold to them, the Mormons that I have known are sincere in their beliefs and have good moral and family standards.

I am a male, 18 years old, and I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. (Wow that is a long name, no wonder prefer to type Mormons). I know this to be the only church with the entirity of the Lords gospel on the earth. Just being a member doesn't mean your perfect though, i know I am not, and members may not even be the best people out there, but we try, and we do what is best by us. I watched that show on PBS, and I want you to know that it was the greatest fiction story I have ever heard. Most of the stuff on there was completely biased against our church. If you want to know what the church is really like, visit a church, or talk to some members in your area. Keep an open mind, even if you are dead set against us. We are just people. We do some things different, and we may even be odd, but that is our right. Oh by the way, no we don't believe in having multiple spouses. The only people who do may call themselves members, but are not recognized as such by the greater portion of the church. Now look, I am not some fanatic, at times I have even questioned whether there is a God, but everything is proof that there is. We just try to live life, love our families, and be the best we can. If you are looking for some prejudiced crazy sexist Mormon, you could find one I am sure, but if you wnat to find a good person, there are lots of those too. Just because someone is a member, doesn't mean they are some brainwashed clone. we are still all individual people, some good, some not so good. However, if you think the Church as a whole is sexist you are wrong. I can see where people who don't know what they are talking about could make that assumption, but it isn't true. there is no one in this whole world i love and respect more than my mother. No one who has been to our Church very much could think we have anything but the highest opinion of women. That is the Church as a whole though, and individual members might think somewhat differently. There is no cut and dried way to explain ourselves. We are all different. You can learn what the church believes easily, (just ask one of our missionaries) but you will always have to take members at face value, just like any other people. I guess that is it. Sorry it is so long, but I hope it is helpful.

female/32/was raised Catholic, do not go to church now
My husband and his brother and sisters were raised in the mormon church. Their mom still goes, but all 4 kids are now grown up and none go to the mormon church. I think a lot of their rules are a bit ridiculous (dress codes, no caffeine, look down on marriage outside the religion, etc.). One of my least favorite things about mormons are their very unequal views towards male and female. (It's as if the men can do no wrong.) My husband's step-mother wasn't even allowed up in the front of the church during her own daughter's baptism**mormons don't call the ceremony held when the child is a small infant a baptism, but that is what catholics call it--had mine at 3 months. Any mormons out there can tell you what term I'm talking about. (I'd ask my husband, but he's busy at work.)

3. I was raised Mormon, I am now agnostic.
Growing up in the church I have obviously known many Mormons and while you occasionally get a weird one, most are normal, nice people. Though I hear the ones in Utah are crazy, I wouldn't know, I've never been there.

what I know: L.D.S. or Mormon or the church of Jesus Christ if Latter day saints all one and the same. They believe that Satan and Jesus are brothers and God did not like Satan’s plan, but like Jesus plan. Jesus to the Mormons died so they could pray to him for forgiveness, oh and died on the cross, but that’s about it, that won't get them into heaven because their theology has paganism and freemasonry in it besides their claim of Christianity. They claim to be the church from Jewish days and they had many wives in the O.T. days so hence they believe in polygamy. But god did not create Adam and eve and denice and Stacey ect. Anyways. They are prejudice because they believe in preexistence and they think that a lot of people went with satins plan (black people) and some kind of went with Jesus and Satan (lighter skin people) and those that went with Jesus (whites). They believe that Mary was married to God, so that’s what happened when the holy ghost came over here...they did it. This is a higher form of their theology, one that is only taught in the temple, so their are two theologies going on, the one that nontemple Mormon’s know about and the one that temple Mormons know about. ect.

I think just like other religions there's some good & some bad....religions are made up of people who sometimes happen to make mistakes.
I once worked with a Mormon (female)....she was very kind and considerate. Her main focus was her family.
