The best training is to get on stage as much as possible. Acting schools help get you important contacts. That's really all they're good for. In that respect, Yale and Julliard are the best.

I went to AMDA. It's not a degree granting school but I'm very glad I spent time there. AMDA is a conservatory so it's program is very concentrated which was good. If you're looking to focus only on acting or musical theater I highly recommend it. Also from what I've heard about other schools AMDA is one of the few who prepares you for the real world, they have several business seminars that teach you about the different unions, how agents work, how producers work. I've also heard that they are one of the only schools that put a lot of focus on the audition process, which I believe is somewhat true. After going to enough auditions with people coming from other schools not knowing anything about the process or what to do I believe it.
Before I went to AMDA I had just graduated HS and had no intention of going to school for acting, I was just going to move to NYC and start auditioning. Thank god my dad didn't let me do that. I learned a lot at AMDA. Part of learning is making mistakes and the way their program is set up it allows you to do that and it's much better to make the mistake there then in the real world. Ultimately if I didn't go to AMDA I wouldn't be the actor I am today.

I go to a performing arts high school, and find it helping me immensely! Professionally, I'm getting more training, roles! Personally, I'm feeling more confident in my abilities!
Just saying, Jonathan B. Wright, in Spring Awakening on Broadway, went to the same school, and 2 years later, he's on broadway! He is always saying how much going to a performing arts school helped him.
There, now you have both an amateur and professional actor saying it was satisfying and helpful!

I went to a few acting schools and trust me it really helped.
I made a lot of friends, gained a lot of confidence, and just became a better actress in general. Also when u r auditioning it looks really good on ur resume if it says that u went to an acting school.

One always learns something new when going to various acting school. Learning is very important to actors, as well as, a good way to network with fellow actors.
Acting classes always enhance the skills the actor has and utilizes.

Absolutely. I had a good foundation at an acting school, and followed it up with classes and workshops for years. The classes and workshops keep me sharp and let me find new ways to approach the work.
