At the rate Bonds is currently going, he will retire after the end of the season having hit about 764 HRs, a new record.
A-Rod has been averaging about 42 HRs a season for his career. Assuming he can continue that pace he'll be at 600 HR by the end of the '09 season. He'll get to 700 HR early in the '12 season and He'll pass Bonds in September of '13.
My guess is that unless he has some serious injury problems he can finish his career with about 840 HRs.

Yes. He's 31, and already has almost 500 homers. He'll probably end this year between 510 and 520, and he's averaged about 42 a year over the last 11 years.
At that rate, and assuming he stays healthy, he'll probably hit #756 in 2013. By then the record will be a bit higher but I'm sure he'll reach it.
I think he has a shot at 800 homers.

TO FIELDS R:
its not an a rod bandwagon. he will be the quickest to 500 hr and will break the record eventually. The only people that thought he sucked last year was spoiled yankee fans that cant stand the fact that hes 14 for 41 in the playoffs (that would piss anyone off). but the fact of the matter is that he hasnt hit less than 35 homeruns since hes been with the yankees and even thtat was a bad year. So quit your hating and get you ish right . Hes going to hit 60 homeruns this year and if he hits more than 61, it will be the only homerun record that i will recognize.

I'm a die hard Red Sox fan and I hate A-Rod but he has the best chance out of anyone by far. He's capable of 40-50 hrs a year for the next ten to twelve years.

Does he have a chaaaance?! Dude, he is going to crush Barry someday and put him in his rightful place of the dumpster that arrogant twit that he is.
Arod will be the HR King in between 2012-14-mark my word!
By then Barry will prob be complaining about some union compensation he hasn't gotten on his major medical..gee, Barry if you laid off the steroids maybe you'd be ok..!

He does have a shot. Currently he is 31 years old and has nearly 500 homers. If he stays healthy, plays another 9 years (til he's 40) and keeps hitting home runs at rate he has he would have over 800.

If he can stay healthy and consistent I think he might. That's the big key. Remember just a couple of years ago Ken Griffey Jr was a shoe in to break the record but he couldn't stay healthy. Now there is no way he will ever get close to it. If A-Rod stays healthy and consistent than I think he might do it.

He has at least 10 good years ahead of him and could easily hit 350 more. He will turn 32 on July 27th. He is at 492 now which would give him 835. No way will Bonds get close to that number.

I know everybody is jumping on the A Rod bandwagon. Last year everybody thought he sucked. He still sucks, but he is having a decent year.
Personally I think Bonds is great. Like I said, I bet Alejandro Jesus Rodriguez uses roids too, and he is also one of those Latinos that Sheffield complains about. Lol, I wonder how many baseball fans actually know that Rod is not his name. Or that the reference is not to how many of them there are.

Oh no doubt! On ESPN a week ago they compared where Bonds and A-Rod was throughout a certain number of games and A-Rod had more than Bonds did so no doubt does he have a shot!
