The U.S. Civil War monuments are going through a similar process.
1. Identification of important sites by respected authorities.
2. Publication of materials explaining the importance of the sites.
3. Funding to seed government and private preservation efforts.
4. Public involvement to promote interest in the monuments through signage, local expertise, and education.
5. Expertise in conservation of the artifacts.
6. Public law to protect buildings of historical importance.

if one doesn't preserve the culture and heritage of one's Ancestry there is no pride and basis for the future.

Without a past there is no anchor for future generations to build upon.

without the protection and preservation of these monuments there is no proof of actual achievements by a culture and society.

Future generations will not be able to fully understand their heritage as to why their Ancestors were able to accomplish what they did and why they did it.
