Why not get the marker? They are not just for people with $100K to burn and you dont need to take the total credit line plus it completely solves the dilemma you are dealing with. The added bonus is that you get a free loan for up to 30 days if you do happen to lose money. I have several credit lines around town and none are larger than $3k.
A couple of things to keep in mind... Firstly, they dont run your credit like a credit card would. They dont really care about your FICO score. They largely only care about how much money is sitting in your bank account. Secondly, all casinos use 1 company called Casino Central Credit to keep track of your markers. This allows all casinos to see all of your activity so you can't "marker churn" which means taking one marker to pay another. This also acts like your "Casino FICO." Once you have established a history with CCC, any other credit lines you ask for are much easier to obtain.
Hope this helps!

If you are going to gamble at the hotel your staying at, you might want to just bring a check along. Each Casino has a limit you can cash if you're a guest.
Are you a member of an existing Casino chain's comp cards? You mentioned it's your first time to Vegas but sounds like you at least know something of gambling. If you're a member of say Harrahs, get it. No matter how much or little you gamble, you "Might" accumulate points for something free like a snack or meal. Harrah's casino's in Las Vegas are Harrahs, Caesars Palace, Flamingo, Bally's, Paris, Rio (they were on a spree for a couple of years acquiring different casinos on the strip and in downtown).
Getting a marker is not necesarily a bad thing but do it early as you will need to go the Casino Host or Cashier cage and fill out an application form. Bring a bank check as they will need your banks ABA, account number, address, and contact phone number. Casino's are happy to help you sign up for a credit line for cash or markers.
Go and see a show and visit the Strip. They have a Monorail that now runs the Hilton (North end a block off the strip) that runs past Venetian, Harrahs, Flamingo, Ballys/Paris down to MGM..half of the intersesting things to see and find are what unique atmosphere, food, shows, and other entertainment of each Casino.
Good Luck and have fun.

Money works out there like any other place in the world. Get yourself something..... gee what are they called? Travelers Checks!!!!!! You can get them from your bank in any amount the you want!!!! I've gone out there with 2-3 grand in travelers checks. Any casino will cash them. You really don't want to get a marker! You could also use a debit card. Good Luck!!

There are plenty of Banks with ATM Machines...if you have a debit card, you can use it....I take $1000 with me usually to gamble in cash....don't put it all in your billfold, you can attatch a packet to a chain on the inside of your shirt, or invest in a money belt...never have had a problem...usually come home with $300 to $400 of what I take and we go for 3 days at a time...I carry a couple of hunded that I can get to easily...I'm a woman so I have Bra packets, some people carry some $$ in their shoes, of course if you're in sandals that's pretty hard to do...my husband wears Cargo shorts, and carrys some of his money in the front zip Cargo pockets (we each have our own $$ to spend when we go) I carry everything on me...all my Credit cards etc. but I had a purse stolen in a Casino, so now I never carry a purse to a casino.

There are ATMs EVERYWHERE... You'll just be paying a LOT in fees, (sometimes $5 or more)depending on your bank.
Get travelers' cheques - you can then cash them in anywhere and not worry about it.
