I had my nose pierced but it was with a gun, and it was just a stud. When I went swimming it fell out and the hole closed before I got home. Now Im starting a job in 2 weeks and you cant wear jewelry. But my mom won't pay for me to get my nose repierced so I have to wait till I start my job to get the money to pay for it. So can a nose retainer be put in as a starter ring?

...wow.
first of all that's pretty weird and dumb that you got your nose done with a gun.... that is actually LESS sanitary and MORE dangerous than getting it done, like you should have, with a needle.
anyways, for new piercings, it is best to use stainless steel jewelry for the initial healing period, and you should not change the jewelry until this healing period is over. (only stainless steel b/c it is one of the least porous metals, which = less microscopic places for bacteria and other germs to hide in! unlike gold or silver, which are both very porous... also, it is very, very rare to have an allergy to S.S...AND I personally find it really easy to clean...sometime the clear acrylic or other plastic jewelry is difficult to really get super clean...eh...)
I'm not POSITIVE about the exact time for nose piercings but it's probably about 3-4 months.
in that time you should leave the stainless steel jewelry in and not use any of those clear plastic retainers.
...you really COULD F-up the piercing and get a possible infection.... and dude, I'm just trying to help you out, b/c who wants an INFECTION in their nose?!
...that would suck.

Usually piercers that I have talked to advise against this- touching a fresh piercing is inviting bacteria. Also changing back and forth is a really bad idea it will be bad for the new hole. I would say wait- your nose is always going to be here and in the end you might be glad you waited- i know that totally sucks to but trust me its way better than an infection. I remember i almost got pierced with the special glass so that it was clear. Your piercing might be able to offer you some option like this. It always worth calling and seeing what they can do for you! good luck!

Yes they can put in a retainer when you get it pierced. I would advise you to not get it done with a gun again though. Guns are really only safe for your ears.
