4 (7-x) / 3 = x
** Is the answer 4? YES

2. Find the x- and y-intercepts for the equation:

6x - 36y = 36
** Is the answer (0, -1), (6, 0)? YES

3. Find the equation of the line through the given points. Write the equation in standard form:

Through (5, -5) and (-1, 2).
** Is the answer 10x - 3y = 4? NO - put in your points and you will see that they do not satisfy this equation

Slope is change in y over change in x, or
(-5 - (2)) / (5 - (-1)) = -7 /6

y = (-7/6)x + b - use one of the given points to find the intercept

(2) = (-7/6)(-1) + b
2 = 7/6 + b
b = 5/6

So, your equation in y-intercept form is
y = (-7/6)x + 5/6

Put it into standard form:
6y = -7x + 5
7x + 6y = 5

Check with the other point:
7(5) + 6(-5) = 5
35 - 30 = 5 <========== check good

1) Multiply through by 3:
4(7-x)=3x
28=7x
x=4

2) 6x-36=36y
x/6 -1=y
Y-INT: set x=0 =>> -1=y ==> (0,-1)
X-INT: set y=0 =>> x/6=1 ==> x=6 ==> (6,0)

3) y=mx+b
m=Dy/Dx = (-5-2)/(5+1) = -7/6
5=(-7/6)(-5) +b
5- (35/6) =b
-5/6 = b
therefore, y=(-7/6)x-5/6

4 (7-x) / 3 = x
28-4x = 3x
28=7x
4 = x

6x - 36y = 36
x- intercept = (6,0)
y-intercept = (0,-1)

Slope = (2-(-5))/(-1-5) = -7/6
y = -7/6x +b
2 = 7/6 +b
5/6 = b
y = -7/6x +5/6
7x/6-y = 5/6
7x-6y -5 =0
