Yes and no. You can put a thousand people of different cultures into a large hall and they will naturally gravitate to people who are most like them. The main factor of this is culture although skin colour, general demeanour and clothing also play a fair part.
Not many will explore and strike up conversations with people unlike they are.
But for the most part everyone in the hall will be accepting of the differences of the others. This is about that best that can be realistically expected.

well, seeing as how your question is biased i'll answer anyway. I believe that multiculturalism is working, albiet very slowly, unlike other countries (Like Britian, which is killing us in this area), there is still racism and religious bigotry, but we are making strives in making america a multicutural nation instead of a "white america"

no its not working ....and Britain is country of one culture which is British and we will defend and welcome anyone who wants to embrace it ...its not perfect but its our culture matured over many centuries as other cultures have done please don't try to change us but add ..if you don't like us when you get here you still have a choice how lucky are you ..your choice and as Brit we also have a choice...not sure if that left or right could it be middle of the road..this is UK site I think
