Why are we so consumed in high tech equipment? When in Africa million of people starving to deadth ?

Why are we so graczy about High tech equipment that we stand for hours in line or even a whole week outside the store for such a piece of garbage? $ 600.00 would give a whole African family a house over their head and food for them to eat. So why don't we spent our money more wisely? For my self, I am not purchasing such an idiotic phone. I am helping an ESL student in Kenya financially. So why don't we all pitch in ?

I pitch in with feed the children. But I still have a lot of worldly things. I do not think we can help them just by giving money. I think to really help we have to get people over there to fix the water and food shortage and help them learn to farm and fish and things like that. We all are so lucky here.

Because most US citizens don't care about anyone else in the world. Out of sight, out of mind. The people want to be isolated, but it's Govt. gets involved with the wrong global issues and not the important ones like Africa.

I also believe people are tentative to give, due to the fact they are afraid their money will never make it to it's intended place like needy children.

America has advanced to the point of being incapable of existance without electricity.

Any 3rd world country who could devise a way to rob us of this utility could easily move right in and take over.

I shake my head in embarassment as millions with no mind for the future pass each day blabbing nonsense into cell phones.

Because our history has shown that if we help, we'll be hated. We didn't cause the situation and groups like the UN and Red Cross exist for these disasters. Why is the USA expected to bear the burden of all the worlds problems?
