I've made it clear to him that I'm going to start taking measures to remove him from my home if he doesn't pay up. My first step is to kick him off of the internet he isn't paying for. How can I remove him from my network without getting on his computer? (Mine had the original connection). I have a Linksys wireless router.

Encrypt your wireless connection. If it's already encrypted, change the password without telling him.

1. Institute MAC address validation as part of your security measure. This requires the MAC addresses of all permitted wireless devices to be entered in the router's list of permitted MAC addresses. If you already entered his MAC address in here before, delete it.
2. Implement encryption, preferably WPA which requires a preshared key (TKIP) loaded in the router and on your wireless device on your pc. Do not provide preshared key to him. If you had already set up WPA with a preshare key, change the key on router and on your wireless device.

I would do both of these steps to assure security.

NOTE - You MUST use a wired connection to your router when you do the above changes because you will log yourself off the router when you change the router settings if you are wireless.

See your router manual for the exact proceedure for doing the above.

Try calling linksys and seeing if you can change your safety code (if you have one). and If you don't have one then you can add one and then no one will be able to access the internet through your connection without your permission and safety code.

log onto your wireless router and change the WEP or WPA key. Don't give it to him.

I would think you could password protect your wifi and just not tell him the password.
