I'm warned not to use "all caps" in my question because "it's rude"!!!
How RUDE is this? The House is angling to give its members a $4,400 pay increase! This is the new Congress that promised us it would end an insane, immoral, and unjustifiable 'war'; the new Congress that has the lowest approval ratings in history (even lower than Goerge W. Bush's ratings, which is unbelieveable!); and the new Congress whose performance - so far - has been dismal.
I say it's time American exercised their Constitutional right to "keep and bear arms" against an oppressive, tyrannical government whose members have forgotten they are public servants, not some kind of privileged royalty.
Oh, but they need to be paid that kind of money because they work with lobbyists everyday who make more than they do! Oh, but they need that kind of pay scale to keep 'experienced' politicians in office. No, guys - all that money just makes you more arrogant, cowardly, lazy, greedy and corrupt. Hell, no - NO PAY RAISE!!!!

Basically, I agree with you. Congress is a den of thieves, and way OVER payed already.
It seems unethical that a politician's very first priority of accomplishment is to increase HIS benefit, HIS pay scale, and HIS financial well-being, while simultaneously stifling these same issues to and for those he convinced he would serve if elected....
That is legalized criminal behavior as far as i am concerned, and it is / was 'congressmen' who voted themselves exempt from the legality of the public system of taxation, law, and equality.
No wonder our government 'functions' independently from our collective vote ... we as voters are no longer an integrated necessity in what drives it.
This administration has systematical manifested a 'government BY government,FOR government,
OF government', and dam the public opinion.
It's not just the republican party reaching for this type of governmentalization of American politics ether.. both our primary partys are going in that direction.
Scarry...huh..?

I agree with you, but what was the question? I have a list of these arrogant suckers starting with Pelosi & Reed that need to go. It seems neither party understands the concept of Represenative Government. The only WAR this government is winning is the war on the American people.

These people don't need another cent of American tax dollars going into their greedy pockets!
They should not get a raise until this war is over and every man woman and shild have food to eat,a roof over their head, healthcare, and anything else every American is entitled to!
Until our government begins to actually do their jobs instead of leaving it to Heads of state..ie Aronld (CA) & Bloomberg(NY) then no freakin way do they deserve a pay increase...
Here's the thing...prove to me and the rest of the populus you deserve one and we'll think about for 20-30 years.

Sounds like a fair raise to me. They don't get regular annual raises like the rest of us, they have to vote on the issue, and that only happens every 4 years or so.

Government officials do not make that much money, especially compared to the equivalent private sector jobs.

Occasional cost of living adjustments are perfectly reasonable.
