When i'm driving my Maestro cold i get a lot of shuddering from the drivers front side whenever i turn LEFT, it doesn't happen when i turn right, after the car warms up after about 20 mins driving it does get less intense but still happens. An ideas on what this may be.

I have had the clutch cable replaced about 2 months ago and am in the process of having that replaced again because it didn't seem right and the garage who fitted it agreed to replace it free of charge

Simple answer that a lot of dealerships fire at you, it's supposed to do that. Usually, no matter what the problem, that's what you hear.

It could be that the tires need to warm up. That's another thing that you'll hear. Sometimes there's a bit of truth to that. If you have your tires rotated an balanced and the shutter moves to another area of the car, that's your answer and that tire may be defective.

It could be the wrong type of tire for the car, out of round under inflated, etc. However, I think you have more a simple tire problem. You may have a tire problem along with a more serious one.

After driving it for 20 or 30 minutes at low speeds, stop, feel the hubs on all the wheels. See if the one that you think is the problem is hot. That's likely to be a wheel bearing. If that's the case, it needs to be repaired ASAP as if the bearing goes too long that way, the wheel could actually fall off. I've seen that once.

It's more than likely a steering component which needs to be looked at by your mechanic as it could be quite serious.

Hiya mate this is a common problem and sadly very serious there has been a number of these vehicles recalled over the years because there is a problem with the rack and pinion steering device my best advice would be take it in straight away and change your car Rover used to be such a high standard vehicle now it seems to be thrown together

Have a look at the suspension bushes - one has probably disintegrated on a car of that age.

It could be a c.v.joint / driveshaft failure.
Any decent mechanic should be able to diagnose the fault properly for you.
