I think its because they think its the only way to have a conversation or get on telly, what about an ugly bug BB? Check the poor idiots that bare all on Jeremy Kyle. With reference to the hitting someone question Jeremy Kyle needs a good hard slap.

Jerry Springer is pure escapism, it is made to provide people that choose to watch it a place to escape to, a place where everyone else is more fucked up and wrong in the head than themselves. By having people on it that are the complete opposite to what society says we should be-it allows people to sit back and feel better about their own lives-thats why its always the same kind of people on it.

Actually, it's because those are the only ones that apply to be on the show. I know a guy that was on the show and he did a trailer park trash show. Those are the ones desperate enough for the small amount of money that the show gives. That's why you don't find beauty queens or high class business people on the show.
Also, the show tells its guests what to wear and how to act. Where else are you gonna hear, "Honey, I've been sleeping with your three sisters. They're babies are all mine!"

either that or fat people tend to be thick people with no control over anything in their lives and so they make for good TV

Just as beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so is ugliness, you see them in Jerry Springer because you are watching it, and you think people are ugly.
I suspect you call them ugly, because you want to feel better yourself.
Calling people ugly is an ugly thing to do.

Well, if this was true (I've seen people who aren't classified as fat and ugly), then it seems that you're implying that the fit and good looking seem to have it going great with their lives so they wouldn't have to go to Springer and ask him for help.

I think it is their minute of fame as well as I think it is money. No I am told they don't get paid, BUT WHO in their right mind would go on the Springer show just to be insulted hurt and to be proven a total idiot.
