Can anyone shed some light into why they would assert executive priviledge to prevent documents related to the firing of the federal prosecutors from being furnished?

I'm not getting it. Thanks!

Mex-I assume whatever there is to find, if anything. Why are they being prevented from doing so? It's like the Congress has no power anymore. Do you think this is OK? FYI-I'm not a liberal nor conservative. I vote based on issues not based on what a particular party does. I do find this strange, though.

Probably because those documents prove that they did something illegal. Since they believe they are above the law, and are shunning our checks and balances system citing executive privilege, they're trying to protect themselves from being prosecuted for their unconstitutional and un-American actions.

Because the liberal Democrats are yet again wasting time and money, our money by the way, over stepping their authority chasing a wild goose in hopes of finding something to wave around in the media as anti-Bush rhetoric. They have no business subpoenaing the White House staff when people and documents containing the answers they seek have been turned over. Essentially they used this legal tac to ward off a witch hunt.

Volksverhetzung !!

It is a part of the separation of powers of the US government. The Administration has it's responsibilities, which are to run the government. The legislature has it's responsibilities, which is to pass or not pass legislation. The legislature cannot interfere in the operations of the Administration. That is the basis of executive privilege.
We elect the president to run the government, not Congress.

Jus sayin...What is Congress trying to find?
I find both sides strange lately. Why do they want them and why does the White House want to hide them? Did the Congress get a tip from the National Enquirer?
