My neighbore is 6 months pregnant and she said that her personal doctor asks her to come every month to take an eco, when Im sure I've heard that it isn't good for the baby, and that you should only take an eco in the 4th and 8th month..
is this right?

I'm sure that the first poster didn't mean ultrasound. I have heard considerable research saying that excess ultrasounds lead to all kinds of problems for babies. (especially those really neat ones that are 3D.) But what I would venture to guess both of you mean is the Doppler.
The Doppler is the sonar equipment that the midwife/doc uses to hear your babies heartbeat. That is not harmful and should happen every time she goes in for a check up. It's especially important before the baby starts kicking, that way you know if there is a problem.
If it's an ultrasound, only one should be done at 20 weeks. This age is appropriate for figuring out if there are diseases or conditions they need to worry about and they can also find out the sex of the baby. Only one is necessary.

Are you asking this cuz of what happened between me and you last night that would cause you to become pregnant.. And yes you need an eco(ultrasound) every month. As has been stated once a month application of ultrasound has NOT been shown to have any harmful side effects on the fetus.
Do you have any ideas on what to call the baby? I think Ashkon Jr.. or Ronaldinho Jr

The medical community does not know if there are any side effects from multiple ultrasounds. It would be a massive study to undertake, following babies from birth to death, and possibly their descendents. If there is a concern about how the baby is developing then the doctor may choose to do more than the standard 1-2 ultrasounds. That is probably preferable to finding out there's a problem too late.

Do you mean ultrasound?
It's fine - I went to a midwife for my last pregnancy, and they did ultrasounds at every visit.
There is no scientific evidence that has concluded that repetative ultrasounds are harmful to the baby.

echographie or ultrasound is not harmful for the baby...but it's expensive and this is why they usually do it only twice during pregnancy. It might be that your friend's pregnancy is in danger that is why they are asking for more frequesnt ultrasounds to monitor everything

I think there is an eccogram or something like that. I haven't heard one way or the other if the frequency is harmful or not.
