Hafner was drafted in the 31st round of the 1996 draft by the Rangers, but never actually played enough games for them to qualify as a rookie, so his actual rookie year was as an Indian, the team he currently plays for.

Indians in 2003. Hit for the cycle with them. Loppsidded trade for him. They traded Ryan Drese for Travis Hafner. Ryan Drese's career lasted 6 season with a 34-39 record along with a 5.31 ERA. Hafner meanwhile 6 years into his career has 130 homers, .292 BA, 431 RBI, and a .402 OBP. There was someone else that went to Texas but I can't remember who.

He started with the Texas Rangers in 2002 but qualified as a rookie with the Indians the following year because he did not have enough plate appearances in 2002.
