An ex friend posted a fake personals ad with my picture. I want to know if this is illegal.

Ad did not say anything negative except "looking for someone to take care of me so I can party with my friends". No email address, home address, or phone number was given. Just used my picture.

Did this friend post your address, e-mail or phone number? Of not, they might be just wanting to use your picture to get more hits. Are they ugly that they don't want to use their own pic? I would say its a compliment to you for them wanting to use your pic, instead of their own.

Now, if they are giving away your info, then you could possibly sue them for slander.

Your first course of action should be to contact the personals service it was posted on. Using someone elses information is probably a breach of their terms of service.
