the left keeps saying how horrible Cheney is
now you come up with this scenario where he is leaving
& you say it is low down
no matter what you say & try Hellery has no chance of becoming the next President

I did not hear of this happening at all.
If Bush tries to do this, Thompson would have to be approved by both the House and the Senate, each controlled by Democrats.
So even if Bush tries to do this - again, something for which there is no evidence whatsoever - the Congress has its say.
I wouldn't sweat it. Only two vice presidents have resigned in the course of our 200+ year history. Agnew (Nixon's VP) was one. I'll let people hunt for the other, if they are interested at all.

I did see that in the Washington Post...bizzare....however, I think the person would have to be approved by Congress....also, why wouldn't Pelosi end up taking Cheney's spot if this happened?
