nobody on the planet swims a 50 free in 17.anything. the record for the 50 yd free is 18.74 by Fred Bousquet of France, and he is the only person to ever break 19.

26.xx is a very respectable time for a 50 yd free. especially after only a year. it may not win any major meets, but still...

Kristy? a few seconds to drop? if you compare times against national qualifying times, then yes, 26 is slow, but 26.49 is in the 98% for 13-14 boys, and the 85% for a 15-16 boys, so depending on how old you are, 26 is a great time.

keep it up!

I would say so. It depends on the age and gender too though. A 26 is pretty respectable for 1 year of swimming regardless. Lets say its a 10 year old girl. Then you're flipping amazing. And no 13 yearl old swims a 50 in 17.6 sorry

It depends on how old you are. If you're 10-years-old or under then that's a great start, keep it up! If you're 11 to 12, I'd say you've got a few seconds to drop but you've got a decent start. If you're 13 or over then you've got a lot of work to do.

It also depends on how seriously you compete. I hold my team to USA Swimming Time Standards but there are clubs and local teams that are not so stringent with their qualifications and put much less demand on their swimmers.

For USA Standards, check out their website:

Good luck with your season!!!

well it depends on your age, yeah its pretty good, but if your planning on winning your going to have to go alot faster than that, but for one year thats good, just keep on practicing.
