i have a problem with my infrared usb cable. when i connect my cell phone (sony ericsson k300i) via infrared i'm not able to recieve or send files. i uninstalled the infrared driver and then i reinstalled it but still no effect. when i safely removed hardware (irda) there was a yellow exclamation mark sign on the sony ericsson infrared modem and when i clicked properties there was a note This device cannot start. (Code 10).
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device. but when i clicked troubleshoot nothing happened. how to remove that yellow exclamation mark and make the infrared work.

Your cell phone can act as a modem, it will only work if it's connected to your computer (in this case by an infrared connection), so if the infrared is not working your computer will not be able to use your phone as a modem, that is why you have the yellow exclamation mark.
As to how to fix your infrared, I would either have a professional take a look at it or reinstall windows, if it still doesn't work after reinstalling everything then something is probably broken, either the phone, the usb port, or the infrared adapter. (remember to back up everything before reinstalling windows!)

I/R I would think is not a cable, it is "point and click", line-of-sight! For example, when I've used an I/R connection to either ActiveSync my contacts with my IBM laptop and my HP iPAC or used my iPAC as a remote control for my stereo/TV stuff it's strictly line-of-sight connection, no cable involved, and when it's not aligned correctly, no dice!
