Although, a Licensed Architect in California automatically qualifies to take the State Contractors License examination for a General B license.

EARS! They need two ears to listen to what the client is asking for. Any architect I've had the misfortune of dealing with paid no attention to the clients needs, but designed great art that he wanted to build. They try to trick you into a contract so you have to build what they want, not what you want.

Instead of being sneaky to get their way about spending someone else's money, they should use the EARS God gave them to LISTEN when the client says "I don't want a post-modernist building", (or whatever).

Wellll! "Architects" do not build houses, etc. They draw the plans.
Scaled ruler, compass, protractor, square. Take your pick.
Paper and pencil?
The most important today is "Cad" software.
