There are many problems. Players like Pavano, Hughes, Giambi, Damon, Doug Menchevich (most likely spelled wrong), and others got hurt early. Bobby Abreau and Robinson Cano are not hitting. Mussina sucks this year, and so does Igawa. Pettite gets no run support. Rivera struggles, partially because he never really pitches, as a result of getting no save opportunities. The bullpen is overworked. But all of those are excuses for Joe Torre and Brian Cashman to keep their jobs.

The only really have old stars that are on the decline. Take Abreu for example, his power numbers are horribly low, and his is playing horribly all around. Also, their pitching staff is almost enitrely injured and once again old. The only young talent the yankees have is phil hughes, but even he is injured.

Because they steal all the good players from other teams by paying them twice what they are worth, and they turn out to be big busts. By the way, I could pay some rookie 1/28 of what the yankees are paying Roger, and at least I would be giving someone with potential some playing time, plus, he wouln't be 1-3. If I am paying some 44 yr old $28 million for one season, then you better be winning more then they are losing. The Rocket is doing what I said he would be doing...crashing, and soon to be burning.

Joe Torre should have been fired at the end of last year when the Yankees lost in the playoffs. King George, nevertheless, is pals with Brooklyn Joe and won't let him go. Therefore, Yankee fans suffer once again at the hands of King George.

Pitching. Their starting pitchers have missed a ton of games due to injury and their middle relief is just awful. Add on to the fact that they are all getting older and you have a struggling team.
You can't win in MLB without good pitching and right now, the Yankess don't have good pitching

Bad bullpen, offense is shaky and inconsistent, and their starting pitching basically ends after the 3 spot. I don't think they are as bad as they are playing. I just don't think it's all clicking at once like it should be. Reminds me of the Astros actually.

THEY ARE NOT HORRIBLE ,DONT EVER CALL THE YANKEES HORRIBLE!!All they need is better offense because their pitchers are doing a little good its just that their offense needs more work.

Karma.
Other than a couple of players they don't seem to be able to play good baseball for that many games in a row.
