What does the lease say. Typically rent is due on the first, and late after that. The way I handled rent was it was due on the first, but I didn't charge a late fee until the 5th so I regularly got everything on the 4th, or so. So it technically may be late after the first but depending on your lease maybe you won't get a late fee or anything until some time later.

They probably aren't gonna evict you becuase your rent was 5 days late - but they aren't exactly gonna love you if you make a habit of it.

The last two apartments I rented had a due date of the 5th of the month, but you'll need to check the lease to find out when your due date is.

Also, if you know right now you cannot pay until the 5th, talk to your landlord. Don't just assume people are going to say no. You won't be out anything. If the rent's due on the 4th and you're paying on the 5th you would have to pay the late fee anyway. You never know, he/she could be understanding about the whole thing.

I don't know if it is any different in Canada, but in the US it depends on your lease. Some landlords allow a certain amount of days before considering it late, others charge a daily fee (like an extra 50 a day past the due date). The smartest thing to do would be to contact your landlord and tell him (or her) the situation and make sure to say that you wont make it a habit and that you are sorry.

If it's due on July 5th or later, no it would not be late. If it's due on the 4th or earler, yes it would be late.

Whether or not a late payment would be a problem would be up to your landlord. Most aren't ogres, but most will also assess a late fee if it's late. Some allow a grace period before assessing the late fee, others do not.

Each area has differerent rules, and if it's due on the first and you pay the 5th, it's late. The question you may be asking is if you can be assessed a late fee or if you have a grace period on your contract that you can pay if you are beyond the first day of the month.
Look on your lease agreement to see if you have a grace period or if certain weekend days or holidays apply to your agreement.

Refer to your lease agreement. If it states that your rent is late on or after the 5th of the month, then yes, it is late. However, if you call your landlord and explain y our situation, most will give you an additional day without imposing late fees.

If your rent is due on the 1st of each month then it is due on or before the 1st. It is considered late after that. But most landlords give you a grace period, usually 5 days late before they charge a late fee. Read your rental contract for late terms. I, personally always pay my bills early. Banks and credit companies love me. Guard your credit rating....you will need it in your future.

Depends on when your rent is originally due. Also, depends on how lenient your landlord is.

I would suggest explaining to the landlord about the underlying problem that is causing you to consider paying late.

Depends on your complex rules. Most places give some kind of grace period, but it may only be a day or 2. You have to check with your landlord.

It depends entirely on your lease because each complex has very different rules. If you don't have a copy of your lease, ask the management office of your complex this question. (It's a good idea to have your lease on hand for personal reference so you might want to ask for a copy.)
