I recently got my timing belt replaced and a couple days later my AC started screeching when I turned it on. Is it possible that the two are related?

I did not get the AC belt replaced, but the timeframe for that belt to need to be fixed all of a sudden is suspicious. I was told the screeching sound could be an issue with the air compressor. Basically I'm worried that I'll be taken advantage of and end up paying for things I don't need fixed.

They have to take off the A/C belt to replace the timing belt. In fact...all belts have to come off!. The belt is not tight enough!
Go back and get them to look at it. Make sureit is on properly and check for proper tightness!

It should be a "multi-ribbed belt" not a serpentine belt

Did you get the serpentine belt replaced when they replaced the timing belt?

The two items are different, but in order to get to the timing belt, the serpentine belt needs to be removed. However, if the serpentine belt was old, it was going to be screeching soon anyways.

Probably not...you need to replace the sperpantine belt for the A/C to not screetch, maybe the pulley too.

They have to take the belt off to get to the timing belt. Most likely they just didn't tighten it. you need to take it back and get it tightened.
