Sure, I hear they're having a fire sale (couldn't resist). Seriously, you may want to wait a little bit and see what comes on the market. I suspect the fire was a one-time thing so I wouldn't worry to much about that recurring (but you'd better check in advance that you won't have trouble getting fire insurance).

I'd wait until the fire is out. You could probably buy some burned out property relatively cheaply and build on that. It won't be pretty for awhile, but the price might make it worthwhile.
