No difference with the exception that there is the existing embargo thanks to the cubanazos in FL led primarily by Castro's ex inlaws the Diaz-Balarts who are members of Congress and no embargo exists for Vietnam.
The old Cubans down here are still pissed to this day that Kennedy did not try again to invade the island nation after the failed Bay of Pigs try. The ones that took flight early from Cuba are the ones that lived the high life under the Batista dictatorship which existed primarily with US help and mafia backing and they are the most bitter.
The younger ones are not so bad but they have to also get the history of the island prior to Castro and not just the vitriol spewed by their bitter older parents and extended family.

this is simply by fact of Fidel Castro and the years of bitter hatred equipped up between us of a and Cuba over activities such simply by fact the Bay of Pigs and the Cuban Missile disaster. there is likewise a extensive exiled Cuban community in Florida this is often pressuring the WHite domicile to do something vs Fidel Castro. for my area, that's severe time to open up diplomatic channel with Cuba simply by fact it doesnt make sense that we drag this standoff anymore, on condition that Cuba is rather not a threat to the different international places. If we are in a position to make greater effective relatives with Vietnam, the place we lost a conflict and approximately 40,000 individuals, and China the place in Korean conflict we additionally fought their crimson military and likewise suffered casualties, why not Cuba, the place not a unmarried American has been killed?

Yeah, well, there was that whole cuban missle crisis thing. We dont want to have a strong communist power 70 miles from Key West.
And Cuba is a lot worse then Vietnam. You still go to jail for the rest of your life for speaking up against the gov't in Cuba.

Well ,I heard they castrated Castro
I heard they cut off everything he had
what a dirty lowdown thing to do
to mess him up like that
They dumped him in a jungle
in the land of the sugar cane
ever since the day they fiddled around
I said he ain´t never been the same
Well ,I heard they castrated Castro
because he was the people´s friend
they told him once and they told him twice
said I ain´t gonna tell you again
They put a bit of pressure on him
that´s when he told ´em what they could do
so the word came down from the noisy town
set up a jungle rendezvous
He had been living in a different world
then he was nutted by reality
he had been living in another tree
then he flew down to see what happens
I went out to see my sister ,she was not in
so I went and bought a paper ,then I returned
she was well into the racing on the TV
she has never been that fond of me
I went and turned her over
See I had been living in a different world
then I was nutted by reality
I had been living in another tree
then I flew down to see what happens
I was listening to an echo ,I was impressed
even though I couldn´t see it ,it was the most
I was jumping and a´gleeing at everyone
I was speaking in a foreign tongue
my pleasure gave no pleasure
See I´d been living in a different world
then I was nutted by reality
I had been barking up another tree
then I flew down to see what happens

...Because most Cubans are Republican and vote Republican. The Republicans needed to thank the Cubans for their votes and support them in the quest to overcome Castro. Also Castro would also impact trade in Florida by providing cheap labor & imports and this would hurt businesses in South Florida.

You answered this in your question.
There are many Cubans in the USA especially in Florida. They can be pivotal in close elections. Since they lost everything when Castro took over, they do not look kindly on any US legislator who tries to normalize relations.
It's all about the US vote.

good question. Why do we do business with Russia and China who have nuclear warheads pointed at our cities? Ask your Senator or congressman. Why do we take better care of Viet Nam refugees than Viet Nam vets who suffered during this war?

There's no logical reason. By blocking trade with cuba, we allow castro to blame their economic problems on us. If we traded with them, they would either fall by themselves or become more capitolist, so it's a win/win

Because no U.S. President in the past half century has had the guts to admit that we were wrong in 1962 and get on with life.
