My birthday was two days ago and I completely understand your sentiment. It is the only day you get to ask for whatever you want, that's reasonable, without getting weird looks.
So go ahead, ask for the clowns if that's what you want. And no, I don't think it's too much to ask. People have asked for a lot more strange and extravagant things than that.
