I bought this half penny at a store called Stamp and Coin Co. I was wondering how much it is worth so I know if i got ripped off.

Well the mintage for the 1955 1/2 Penny was 18,465,600 so the date is far from scarce. Your coin KM# 896 can be found in most dealers world coin boxes for .10-.25 cents and that includes some that are in top grades, for the coin is not that old. It is always best to do a little homework so to speak, before one buys a coin. The 1/2 cents from Great Britain with the ship on them, first of all look nice and can make for a fun collection. They were minted from 1937-1970. Non are really rare, but would not be an easy collection to put together. One would have to find all of them.

Not much. Very common and a collector may give you £1 for it if you're lucky. Leave it to your kids and their kids. I've got a bagful of old predecimal coins.
