8w² + 14wz - 15z² factors to:

(4w - 3z)(2w + 5z)

Multiply it back out to double check.

8w² + 14wz - 15z²

8w² - 6wz + 20wz - 15z²

I got -6wz and +20wz by multiplying the first term and the last term +8 times -15 which is -120. Then find two numbers that will multiply to equal -120, but also add up to the middle term of the original problem, which is +14. So +20 times -6 equals -120, but if you add +20 and -6 it equals +14, just bring the middle term variables (wz) down with the +20 and -6 and factor the rest.

(8w² - 6wz) + (20wz - 15z²)

And it does not matter which way you pair the -6wz and+20wz, just put either number with the number that will be easiest to factor for you, like I could have put (8w² +20wz) + (-6wz - 15z²), but it would not have been easy to factor as the other way around.

2w(4w - 3z) + 5z (4w - 3z)

This is what it factors out to be. The two problems in parenthesis match so I know my answer is correct, but you only need one of the parenthesis problems, then put 2w + 5z together and get the answer below.

(2w+5z) (4w-3z)

There are several ways to do this problem, I don't know which way is best for you, but good luck!!

(4w - 3z)(2w + 5z)

to check:

4w X 2w= 8w^2

4w X 5z= 20wz

-3z X 2W= -6wz

-3z X 5z= -15z^2

= 8w^2 + (20wz - 6wz) - 15z^2

= 8w^2 + 14wz - 15z^2
