Do you verify employments, then get a credit report, then call references? Some other order?

I'm asking because my potential landlord called my employers to get verifications of my employments but he has not called any references yet. Is this a bad sign? I just put the application in yesterday morning and he called my employer yesterday afternoon. It's my first apartment so I'm anxious! Your responses are appreciated

Every landlord has their own criteria.

I used to verify employment and run a credit check, but didn't check references. Only a moron would put down a negative reference so what they had to say didn't interest me. I used references for skip trace on the rare occasion that someone left owing me money. It's surprisingly effective!

sometimes they fax over requests besides just calling. im sure they called ur employment first to verify your employment there and that you have a steady job and income. they will run your credit takes 2-3 days and then call or fax rental verification to your past residents. isually takes about a week.
