Just under 2 gallons. That's Imperial gallons. US gallons are smaller.

1 Imperial gallon = 4.546 litres.

Bettas live in HOT water. Usually 25°C to 29°C (77°F - 85°F). If they are much below 25°, especially at the 18°-21°C most rooms are at (65°F-70°F), they can become ill with various diseases, and be lethargic all-round. Bettas usually get along with neons or cardinals, cherry barbs, corys, and other small community fish. They do not get along with large fish, brightly finned and large finned fish, or aggressive fish. They should not be put with guppies or other bettas (unless it is 3+ females in a large tank). They cannot be placed with Goldfish, as goldfish like different conditions, and pollute the water. You can have one betta and 4-5 other small fish. ie - 5 neons/cardinals/cherries, or 3 neons, etc and 1 cory. Remember that neons, cardinals, and cherries MUST be in groups of 3 or larger. I would recommend putting 5 cardinals with a nice, female betta (the females are less aggressive, and show fewer problems). You also want to introduce the other fish first, so that the Betta will be less aggressive.
